[Mobile] We're IT! What are you thinking?!

You know what gets me about some people here on campus is the false illusion that just because their crap is passworded that we, the people of IT, can't see it. Or just because they close a program before we walk up, that we don't know its there.

Let me let you in on a little secret. We're IT, bi-ia-otch!

You know that computer you're using? We have Administrative rights on it...we can see any program, any file, any thing we want on it...and we don't have to come to your desk to do it - we can see everything from our desk - including the ability to edit files on your machine from ours.

You know that email account you have through the company that you use to sign up for all your personal crap...and then want to complain to us about how much spam you're getting?? *We* don't get spam...*you* get spam...and you're lucky we come install a spam filter instead of firing your ass for not adhering to the Acceptable Net Usage Policy that you agreed to abide by when you started working here.

You know those confidential documents you printed off your computer and left on your desk...the ones you're so worried about us seeing if we walk in your office when you're not there? Who do you think runs the database where that information is stored? Who runs the file servers where those documents are saved? That would be us...yeah.

The company obviously trusts us enough to handle the critical data for it..there should not be any issue with letting us do our job, and not causing a fuss when we show up and fix/correct something that is wrong with your computer or the policy in place that you aren't adhering to. We are really not interested in how you "used to do it" or what you "used to have acess/privileges to do". That was back then...this is now, and you just hadn't been caught yet.

In all honesty, we couldn't possibly care less about the paperwork on your desk...we're more interested in the trinkets...and if not that, then we're more interested in getting your computer up-to-date so we don't have to keep coming back to your desk.

The problem is not that we don't like doing computer work...its that we don't like doing it over and over for the same person that doesn't EVER get it...or having to keep come back to the desk because they forgot "oh, one more thing" after we have already left. So when its the 10th time we are at your desk, and you aren't there, we just want to fix it and go back to our desk. We don't need any slack about confidential stuff - we're not interested in that crap...we already have it at our disposal - we're just too lazy to care. We're more interested in getting our job done, and getting back to our desk so we can continue to surf the web for the latest teck news.

So chill out. You're the only one that cares about your job. Otherwise we'd have a job in the same field.
