Are you ready?

So I didn't feel like blogging tonight, but this, I believe, requires my attention on the blog...

Back on May 11th, I wrote this, and I'm adding the bolded emphasis tonight:
"And then there is Iran...wtf. They need to stfu, gtfo, and quit being nubs. They know the reason that we don't want them to have nuclear teck...and they know what they're going to do with it when they get it. I don't think they're 10 years away from developing nukes, I think they're a couple months away. I don't have any solid evidence on this, just a sign of the times. I'm thinking that they're going to defy the UN, and the UN will oppose them. Other middle eastern countries will support Iran in return for protection by Iran and their new teck. They'll go against Isreal, with an alliance with other middle eastern countries - the US and it's allies will get involved to protect Isreal, Russia and China will ally with Iran...and bad things will happen."
Why is this a big deal? Well, because of these two news stories that have come out on CNN in the last couple days:
Iran: EU offer 'walnuts for gold' - Thursday, May 18th, 2006
"... The Security Council is debating a resolution, backed by the United States, Britain and France, that would give the demand the force of international law and open the door to possible sanctions if Iran continues to refuse.

Russia and China, two of the council's veto-wielding permanent members, have said they oppose sanctions. ..." Source - CNN.com

And then this one tonight:

Isreal: Iran 'months' from making nukes - Sunday, May 21st, 2006
" 'The technological threshold is very close,' Ehud Olmert said on CNN's "Late Edition" in an interview taped Thursday and broadcast Sunday.

'It can be measured by months rather than years.' ..." Source - CNN.com

So there you have it. The "solid evidence" that I was lacking in my paragraph on the 11th. And if you read the articles, Iran is saying "FUn00bs" and Isreal is saying "we won't go against Iran alone, but aren't opposed to joining a group of people that will go up against them.

And if Iran is actually only months away from nukes, and they carry out their threats on Isreal, then you can expect the US to get involved, and end the war in Iran with nukes, since Iran will insist on using Nukes against Isreal. But that won't end the war...just the war with Iran. Russia and China will send their support to the area.

What does this mean? Economic hardship, political unrest, and instability across the world. Your gas prices...$5-6/gallon will not be uncommon...gas goes up, so does the cost to transport food. Food costs go up, restaurant and service industry lose business. Service Industries start laying off people and closing, those families are out of jobs. Stock markets start taking note of other commodity increases, and big chain business stock holders start selling. Stocks sell, prices go down. People panic when the stock market starts going down, everyone pulls out from fear - we enter depression.

This is basically the chain of events that we went through in the 20s, and it's also what started to happen in the 80s with the "Great Recession."

So are you ready for something like that? Psychologically, yes, I am, but I've been expecting it in the back of my head since leaving my mom and stepdad's. Financially, no, I'm not...not anymore.

However, this is not necessarily to scare people that read it, but get people to start preparing for financial hard times and assess their current situation. It'll be interesting (at least from an educational standpoint) to see what events unfold in the coming weeks.
